Cîțu out, Orban back?

After former PM Florin Cîțu resigned from his Senate leadership, his predecessor and PNL rival Ludovic Orban announced last week his intention to run in the 2024 presidential electionsreported HotNews. Said Orban: “Honestly, it’s very difficult for me to support someone else, to endorse someone else for the Romanian presidency and that’s why I decided to run”. On Wednesday, NATO deputy secretary general Mircea Geoană also announced his candidacyreports Digi24. This will undoubtedly cause frictions within the social democratic PSD as in Gabriela Firea, who has expressed her intention to run, and Alexandru Rafila, who is popular in the polls, it already several other serious candidates. Fortunately for the PSD the presidential elections are still two years away.
