The PNL leadership voted last night to start negotiations with the PSD to form a government. The Liberals want the government to be in place by December 1, reports Spotmedia. Earlier on Monday the PSD leadership had unanimously agreed to negotiations with the PNL.
The PNL announced in a statement that among the principles it will uphold in the negotiations that would begin on Tuesday are the appointment of a PNL prime minister, the implementation of judicial reforms and the closure of the MCV, as well as respecting the partnership with the president.
“Remaining in government is not an end in itself for the PNL, but is a necessity for fulfilling all the objectives assumed in the governing program. The negotiations will take place starting tomorrow, with a clear roadmap, related to the objectives of the PNL governing program”, announced the PNL on Facebook.
Forty nine members of the PNL National Political Bureau voted in favour of governing with the Social Democrats. Twenty two opposed, including Dan Motreanu, Cristian Băcanu, Ciprian Ciucu, Monica Anisie, Ludovic Orban and Antonel Tănase. “There were 22 colleagues who voted against. It’s hard to say how many votes there were for. Florin Cîțu’s proposal was put to a vote. It is a serious betrayal of the voters who voted with PNL”, said Ludovic Orban immediately after the PNL meeting.
