Last Friday, President Klaus Iohannis promulgated the law that provides for the capping and offsetting of energy and gas bills, reported Digi24.
Prices will be capped at a maximum of 1 RON / kWh for electricity and at a maximum of 0.37 RON / kWh for natural gas. The bills will be compensated with a maximum of 0.291 RON / kWh, in the case of electricity and with a maximum of 33% of the value of the natural gas price component.
The government estimates that six million families in Romania will benefit from these reductions that will apply directly to their bills, without consumers having to take any action. Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, claims that Romanians who consume electricity up to 350 kWh and gas up to 200 cubic meters per month will pay bills comparable to last year.
The law applies as of November 1, for a period of five months.
