No majority in Parliament yet for a new government: Iohannis

President Klaus Iohannis announced this evening that he is not yet calling on parties to start consultations to form a government because he is waiting for a majority to be created in Parliament.

“Unfortunately, the last proposal did not meet a sufficient number of possible votes and the Ciucă government did not appear in Parliament. In the meantime, the parties resumed talks with each other and this is very good. It is very clear that attempts to form minority governments have not led to results, so I cannot accept such approaches”, said Iohannis.

Thus, the president stated that he called the parties to the formal consultations only after “from the discussions a majority assumed by the parties that will want to propose a government crystallises”.

“Only then will I convene consultations for the formation of the new government”, Iohannis concluded.

As Romanian Dispatch reported earlier today, there have been talks between PNL and USR and between PNL and PSD in the past days.
