After consultations with all parties, President Klaus Iohannis has appointed Nicolae Ciucă as PM, he announced from Cotroceni Palace this afternoon. Ciucă was proposed for the position by the liberal PNL.
“Today’s talks have been considerably better, in my opinion, than the last talks. I reiterated at every meeting that a real solution is needed now”, Klaus Iohannis said in a short press statement at the end of consultations with all political parties. “We must end this political crisis. It is inadmissible to continue like this. In this sense, I was very pleased and glad that the PNL came up with a new approach and candidate in the person of Mr. Ciucă.”
Ciucă (PNL), minister of Defense in the Orban and Cîțu governments, was also present at the presser and said that he will negotiate with all the “responsible forces” so that he can present parliament a proposed cabinet in the shortest time possible.
