Each leu the Romanian state invests in a complete cycle of education (from preschool to postgraduate level) generates eight lei in the form of budget revenue from taxes and social contributions, according to a new study released on Tuesday.
“From the perspective of the figures advanced by this research: Education is one of the most advantageous investments that a state can make”, said Mihaela Nabăr, executive director of World Vision Romania. “The state should respect the law and allocate six per cent of GDP to education as these amounts have a direct impact on both the quality of education and access to education”, concluded Nabăr.
The research conducted was by Deloitte Romania at the request of the World Vision Romania Foundation. The report “The cost of education: investment, return, impact”(in Romanian) can be found here.
