Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă was elected as leader of the PNL at a special congress of the national liberal party today. The election had become necessary when the current party leader and former prime minister, Florin Cîțu, stepped down last week. Ciucă’s run for the PNL leadership was uncontested as he was the only candidate. 1,060 members favoured the motion for Nicolae Ciucă’s nomination; 60 ballots were invalid, reported Agerpres.
