The number of Ukrainians entering the European Union has returned to pre-invasion levels and more people will arrive, and leave, before school starts, according to European Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson. Since Russia attacked Ukraine on February 24, more than six million Ukrainians have entered the EU bloc, the European Border Police Agency Frontex indicated at the end of June. About 3.1 million of them have already returned to Ukraine, reports Agerpres.
Romanian prosecutors said they are starting an investigation into alleged crimes against humanity committed by Russia during the war in Ukraine, Bloomberg reported. The government adopted a draft law on the ratification of Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership, reported Euractiv. Chamber of Deputies Speaker Marcel Ciolacu recently said legislative approval would be quick as parliament will convene an extraordinary session to ratify the NATO accession protocols for Finland and Sweden. In an extraordinary session last Wednesday, the Chamber of Deputies indeed ratified the accession of the Finland and Sweden to NATO, Agerpres reports.
The government plans to revise this year’s budget in the first half of August, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă said on Thursday. The budget revision needs to include 10% cuts to each ministry’s budget, but also support measures to mitigate high inflation and increasing energy prices, reports Euractiv.
