Romania drew against Iceland (0-0) and dropped to third place in group J of the World Cup 2022 qualification, with only one more match to play, reports DigiSport. The Tricolorii dominated the game in the Ghencea stadium in Bucharest last night, but the best opportunities were for the guests in the first half. Bjarnason and Gudmundsson missed the chance to score the opening goal, while Toșca wasted Romania’s best chance in the first 45 minutes. Ianis Hagi hit the post in the 85th minute.

Romania plays its final game in group J against Liechtenstein on Sunday. In order to finish second in the group and directly quality for the World Cup in Qatar, coach Mirel Rădoi’s squad have to win and hope that North Macedonia draws or loses their home game against Iceland.
