Prime Minister-designate Nicolae Ciucă has reached out to the PSD for support in forming a government, Euractiv reports. The National Permanent Bureau of the Social Democrats has accepted the invitation to meet with Ciucă.

“We made a decision in the National Permanent Bureau to see the appointed prime minister. It is also normal to see the appointed prime minister, it is a rather difficult moment that Romania is going through”, PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu announced.

Ciucă had appealed, in a message on Facebook, to “all responsible political actors” to support the formation of the new cabinet.

“Our country is going through one of the most difficult periods in its recent history. That is why I call on all responsible political actors to support the formation of the government and to support us in order to overcome the health and economic crisis as soon as possible”, wrote Ciucă (PNL), who was appointed prime minister by President Iohannis earlier today.
