On Friday, October 15, a new record of the COVID-19 pandemic was broken: there were 1,729 patients in intensive care. There were 15,828 new cases and 363 deaths. Ziarul Financiar dubbed it Black Friday.  On Thursday, October 14, Tuesday, October 12 a new negative record of 16,743 Romanians tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 and 442 died.

The first COVID patients were transferred to Hungary on Thursday, as part of an agreement with the Budapest authorities, who were willing to take over some of the seriously ill patients who can no longer be treated in Romanian hospitals, reported Romania Journal.

Interim PM Florin Cîțu announced on Thursday that his government has initiated a bill that obligates unvaccinated medical staff to be tested periodically from their own money, Euractiv reported.

Rapid COVID-19 tests are less sensitive than RT-PCR tests, according to new research by healthcare group MedLife. Consequently the use of rapid tests can lead to a feeling of false protection and results in the spread of the virus, especially among asymptomatic patients.
